Compact Tractor Implements and Their Uses

!±8± Compact Tractor Implements and Their Uses

Compact tractor implements are used in farming on a daily basis by farmers or those that love to garden. Compact tractor implements attach to what is known as a 3-point hitch. Which consist of lift arms that attach to each side of the implement. Here it is called a top link or center link, which levels the implement in a forward or rearward leveling. This article will detail various compact tractor implements and their uses.

Compact Tractor Implements

The box blade is used mostly to move and level dirt, gravel or whatever you want to spread. This implement can also have rippers attached to the box so that undisturbed soil is made workable. The road blade is used mostly the same way but not useful for leveling.

The tiller implement is very useful in making soil workable. It tills the soil just like a regular walk behind rear tine tiller except it uses the tractor PTO or power take-off by attaching a shaft from the implement to the tractor. This compact tractor implement is great for tilling on a large scale and breaking new ground.

The lift boom is used for lifting heavy material by means of a chain or lift strap. With this tractor implement, you can lift car engines or anything that is not easily lifted by hand.

A post hole digger is used for what it is named. It digs holes for fence post or small shrubs or trees. This implement also uses the PTO shaft. It comes in handy for those hard to dig holes.

The plow implement breaks ground that is undisturbed and eight inches or more deep. Bringing it to the top surface to where it can be worked later by another implement called a disc harrow. The disc harrow cuts the soil using large round flat metal blades that turn and cut the plowed soil as it is being pulled by the tractor.

A yard rake implement is used for moving unwanted debris such as rocks and roots from yards and pastures so grass can be planted.

The seeder/spreader is used for spreading lime, grass seed and fertilizer. This compact tractor tool also uses the PTO.

As one can see, tractor implements are very useful for farmers and anyone who has a large amount of land that needs to be worked. Choosing the right implements for your needs is vital to maintaining your farm and land.

Montgomery Wards 70's era agriculturalist w/5hp B@S engine

Thirty plus year old tiller starting again after not running for many years. Finally got it running after doing the following: Replacing the points and spark plug, still no spark seated points with sandpaper got a spark. Put back together no spark. remove magneto and moved wires around, no spark, remove magneto again add some insulation to one of the wires to prevent shorting put magneto back on and finally got a spark again. pull start failed and the metal tabs that hold plastic cord winder on break. find old pull start from go-kart engine and see a bracket I could use. put on old bracket and make new bracket to hold starter winder in place. re-wind plastic cord winder which is usually a pain in the ass install pull starter but would only run if fuel is poured in through carb. clutch re-winder starts to screech, have to remove that and oil it replaced pump diaphragm in carb. Still wouldn't run without help removed gas tank and carb cleaned everything tapped holes deeper for screws that hold on pump diaphragm cause they stripped. made gasket for carb to block mating surface put all back together still won't run without help. remove carb and tank again and discover rust flakes blocking screen in pickup tube cleaned and put back together final time and still won't run unaided. decide to mess with needle valve.discover that its almost completely closed. open needle vale to some random point, now runs just fine As you can see I hate needle valves, I don't touch them unless I ...

Cheap Trailers - Six Ways to Get Trailer Discounts

!±8± Cheap Trailers - Six Ways to Get Trailer Discounts

I want you to pay less for the next trailer you buy and here are a few tips to helping you get a cheap trailer at a discount.

1) The best time to buy a cheap trailer is right at the beginning of the off season. In places that regularly get snow, the best time to get a trailer discount could be right after the first day of snow, in places that are much hotter the off season could be the middle of the year. Things are nearly always slow at dealerships between Thanksgiving and Christmas. As traffic to the dealership diminishes, so do their hopes of selling their RV before the next season. Dealers will be interested in selling trailers and campers at a discount in order to avoid having to carry the interest costs on that unit for the next 6 months.

2) The next way to get a discount on your next trailer or get it for cheap, is to lean as much as you can about trailer rebates, free extended warranties, low interest loans, and other promotional and incentives offers. Many times, dealer will not give a trailer discount if you do not ask for it. Terms can be every bit as important as price. However avoid sales people that only want to talk about monthly payments. These can easily be skewed to hide the actual selling price. Never tell a salesperson how much you can do. Instead ask them, "Is that the best you can do?" and then stop talking. You would be surprised at how good a discount a dealer can give on a trailer when they know they are dealing with a serious buyer.

3) Another great time to buy is during an inventory change over period. Trailer dealers want to change out old models for new ones, they need cash, and so they may be will to give you a great discount on the older model. (Sometimes even as low as the wholesale invoice. You may be able to find great trailer discounts on slower moving models and floor plans. This is a great time to get a cheaper trailer. Usually the change over sales occur during June and August and this is a cheap price on a discounted trailer.

4) Make sure to look out for promotions and advertised specials on discounted trailers. Ask what manufacture's trailer rebates are available. Manufacturers issue regular rebates on their trailers from to 10,000. Some salesman don't know about these rebates because the owner of the dealership takes them on the back end. Rebates are a great way to get a discount on a trailer. Expensive trailers have higher rebates, cheap trailers have smaller rebates.

5) Shop out lying areas with lower overhead. These places have a lower overhead and have to have low prices to attract customers.

6) Don't over spend on upgrades. Upgrades will loose most of their value in a year. The dealership makes a ton of money on upgrades and extended warranties. They may for instance charge you 0 to install a antenna. If you overpay you may loose your trailer discount. Getting cheap trailer discounts is a great way to save money!

Do Bigger Tires Save on Gas?

!±8± Do Bigger Tires Save on Gas?

Have you been to the gas pump lately? Well, who hasn't I guess. Well, as you might know the gas prices are not going to go down any, they are only going to go up. If you're like me and so many others out there then you're tired of it and you might be asking yourself what can I do to save any kind of money at the gas pump. Many of us think that by doing simple things we can save big money on the price of gas, well that could not be more untrue. Things like bigger tires just do not work to help save any kind of real money at the pump.

Looking for a way or two to save some money on fuel for your car? With rising fuel price scoring at an all time price height in recent decades, no wonder everyone in the world is making noise about the issue. If only our car works on air or maybe water? Here is what I was able to discover about how to cut down your bill on fuel for your vehicle.

Running your car on water does not sound as far-fetched as it once did. With the advent of hydrogen cell technology, it seems like we will no longer be dependent on gasoline to fuel our cars in no time. It almost sounds too good to be true. Well, it really is a bit too good to be true; the technology just hasn't evolved to that point yet, but there are ways out there that you can take a step in that direction.

Front Tine Versus Rear Tine RotoTillers - An Engineer Explains Which RotoTiller is the Best and Why

!±8± Front Tine Versus Rear Tine RotoTillers - An Engineer Explains Which RotoTiller is the Best and Why

If you're considering buying a roto-tiller, you probably already know that there are two basic types -- the rear-tine tillers and the front-tine tillers.

What's the difference and which rototiller is the best for you and your garden?

An engineer reveals the facts every gardener should know.

As the name implies, the front-tine tillers have the tines in front of the wheels and under the engine. Likewise, the rear-tine tillers are located behind the wheels.

Basically the rear-tine tillers are best for large areas or for hard clay soils. Also, the rear-tine models don't work you as hard and don't beat you to death, but they are usually more expensive.

On the other hand, the front-tine models are great for small gardens and for soft soils. Of course, any garden can be made to have reasonably soft soil IF you work enough manure and other organic matter into the soil.

For years I've used both the small, front-tine mini cultivator types and the larger, heaver (and more powerful) front-tine roto tiller. Overall, I like the more powerful models. It allows me to work faster, work in harder soil. But let me warn you, the larger models will work you like a mule.

The rear-tine rototiller models don't work you nearly as much, but as I said, they are more expensive. I love to use the rear-tine roto-tillers, but I don't like the price tag.

My conclusion: To get the most bang for your buck, spend the extra money on getting more horsepower in a front-tine model rather than buying one of the rear-tine tillers --unless you are a petite woman or are working a small garden or flowerbed.
